JB Watkins Logging is a 3rd generation company that was founded by John Watkins in the 1960's.
The planning starts after connecting either by phone or email. We will set a time that we can meet or I can go visit your wooded land. Then we will discuss the best way to execute what you want to happen with your land. Whether selective harvesting or harvesting all mature trees, we will create a plan to best fit that.
A timber buyer is sent to your land. With a plan in place we will then select the trees that would be harvested by marking them. The marked trees will then be scaled and we will give you an estimate of the footage of timber being removed from your woods.
After carefully evaluating the timber marked in your woods, we determine the price based off of the footage and quality of each individual tree. We have connections and are in constant communication with the mills to get the land owners the best prices possible for their timber. There is never a tree removed that has not been marked, agreed upon and paid for.
When the land owner is happy with the plan that has been put in place and the price offered for the marked trees, a contract is signed that lays out the agreement and is signed by both parties to keep everyone accountable. At that point, we then pay the land owner.
Any time there is the removing of trees there will be altering to the existing condition of your woods. But with our low impact logging method we are able to remove timber with the lowest amount of damage done to your wooded area.
We take great pride in the quality of our work. Through the integrity of our name and the high quality of work that we do, we have succeeded through 3 generations with the best still to come!
